Claudine Baretto’s revelation of her being an alleged battered wife earns mixed reactions from social media users and netizens. In a photo shoot, Claudine bared her legs full of bruises, scars and wounds that appear to have been caused by cigarette burns. A glimpse of the photo shoot was shown on the “Chika Minute” segment of “24 Oras” news TV show by GMA, Friday night. Baretto refused to reveal further details about her wounds and who actually did such acts of violence to her. Even though she has not taken Raymart Santiago’s name into the picture, she actually mentioned in an interview that she is “a battered wife”. “Hindi nakita ng ibang pamilya ko. Na-accept ko na battered wife ako and so para makatulong din sa iba, lumabas na din ako. “ (My family didn’t see these. I have accepted that I am a battered wife and I’ve come out to help those who are in the same situation as me.) She also said full details about her bruises and wounds are included in her official complaint submitted in connection with “violence against women and their children act”.

Meanwhile, Raymart’s lawyer, Atty. Ruth Castello said they will only react to the issue should Claudine drag her client’s name in the new allegations. “We’ll address it if she categorically says it’s Raymart,” Atty. Castello said. Mix reactions from netizens surfaced online immediately after they’ve watched the video. Most of them sympathized with the actress saying she should fight for her rights and some said she shouldn’t have let what happened to her reach that point. Some people sent their prayers to Claudine through various social media platforms wishing for her fast recovery. “Sobrang nalulungkot ako sa balitang ito.. Clau, ipaglaban mo karapatan mo. Laban lang.. Nakakalungkot,” one named Ronald posted online. (I was deeply saddened when I heard this news. Fight for your rights, Clau. Keep on fighting. This is saddening.) However, some people remained skeptical about Claudine’s motives and say the actress’ wounds might just be “self-inflicted”. Interestingly, other netizens want to know when the abuse exactly happened as they remember seeing a photo of Claudine on her Instagram where she was wearing a short dress and her legs were flawless; without any sign of physical abuse.
